My name is Wendy Hawkins and I am a watercolor artist and author from the Phoenix area. My paintings are in the style of the ancient art form known as Mandala. Mandalas are used as a spiritual tool to assist meditation, insight, and healing. I am the author of “Inner Landscapes: A Personal Journey of Healing Through Art.” It is an art book that goes into more detail on what Mandalas are, how they can be used for spiritual and emotional healing, and shares my personal story using of mandalas for healing.

I live in San Pedro, California, a busy port town on the coast of Los Angeles, the town were I have lived since I was a child. My experience as an artist began when I studied art at Westmont College, a small liberal arts school in Santa Barbara, where I graduated as the “outstanding senior” in my department and was featured in the Senior Art Show at Reynolds Gallery. Since finishing school, I have had a few successful shows, most notably at San Pedro’s monthly “First Thursday” event, a fine gathering of local artists hosting evening receptions for the public. I just returned from a six month long journey traveling through western and eastern Europe and north Africa! (… and it was fabulous! Over the last few years, I have blossomed into discovering the Writer within. I am Vibeke Brant, 39, Danish redheaded eccentric. My life’s calling is to stir your soul, lift your heart and challenge your status quo!

Bethany Ann DeVries is a freelance artist and creator of Doxa Art. She enjoys painting and drawing a variety of subjects, from word art to portraiture. She resides in Denver Colorado with her husband, and is still learning how to show the glory of God through art.

The colorful quilt was written after spending considerable time contemplating the impact that fear has on our ability to see our options. I felt like it needed a visual picture of the oppression that it has over us. it is very abstract in our minds but in our hearts it is very real.

In this piece, i was contemplateing, what makes relationships last. there are many reasons … but my main inspiration was maturity and respect. This piece is dedicated to my Friends Bill and Phyllis Klein who are a prime example of both qualities.

My name is Magdalena Arbat. I was born in Santiago, Chile where I’ve lived for the most part. I also lived in the US during two different periods throughout my childhood. I presently live in Denver, Colorado. I think I’ve always been an artist, I remember drawing and painting from a really early age and being good at it. It was always my only sure A through school. (a good thing at times…). I took classes throughout my life, rented my own studio and had exhibits in Chile before moving to the States 6 years ago. I had a baby 15 months ago and have stayed at home other than babysitting a couple days a week. I thought I’d be able to do a lot painting during the time after my baby was born, I was wrong!

My name is Beatriz and I learned early on that artistic expression was my passion. My love for the arts and aesthetics has led me to many experiences, including the decision to study architecture which I did in Santiago, Chile (where I am from originally, I currently reside in Broomfield) London and the US. I won several art awards through the years, and had work sent to New York after winning a competition at an early age. I’ve dedicated the last twenty years to buildings.. now I’m returning to painting and feel so incredibly happy to find my old friend. It’s been too long!

Mountain

The magnificence of nature brings a sense of peace and silence to the soul. I lived in Vail two years and never ceased to be amazed by the beauty there. This painting was inspired by the memory.

Trees

Where I grew up in Chile we never had snow. I remember visiting the US and being amazed by it and the amount of detail it brings to trees in particular. Trees and snow remind me of wonderful childhood memories.

I am a musician and artist living in Aurora, CO. I am married and have two grown children. After a 35 year break from art work, I have taken up painting again.

“Dancing Tulips at the Seaside” is a pastel painting and is a stylized representation of potted tulips that went gangly. They seemed to be trying to escape the pot. It also represents the first step in my return to doing art work.
